With its famous boat-to-table seafood restaurants, Morehead City is one of two state ports in North Carolina and its fishing fleet brings the waterfront to life each afternoon. Morehead City is a true demonstrator of coastal flair. It is an ever-growing community with the busy state port as its cornerstone, where military ships and freighters, from all over the world, can be seen coming and going at any time of day.
At the downtown waterfront, visitors and residents enjoy fresh seafood and other fine foods at well-known and award-winning restaurants. Art galleries, gift shops and other offerings make Morehead City a resident and visitor’s paradise. However, recent pushes to revitalize the downtown district has set an even higher horizon for the burgeoning coastal town.
Enjoy an evening cruise, spend the day fishing or if you’re looking for more adventure, Morehead City’s dive shops invite you to explore the waters of the Crystal Coast. The Crystal Coast has been rated as one of the best dive destinations in the United States.
In the fall, Morehad City is all the buzz with Ferris wheels, amusement rides, live music and all the seafood you can handle during the North Carolina Seafood Festival, held annually during the first weekend in October. For more details, please visit www.townofmorehead.com.
