If you’re looking for a modern-day beach town with old-fashioned family values, you’ll be delighted in Emerald Isle. Located on the western end of Bogue Banks, Emerald Isle is the gateway to the Crystal Coast of North Carolina. The warm hospitality and hometown charm has helped to foster the town as a family vacation tradition for generations.
This area of Bogue Banks remained largely uninhabited until the 1950s, when it was purchased by a group of developers for what now seems like an unbelievably small amount of money. While contemplating their investment, the developers hired a consultant who was flown over the area for a visual survey. Viewing the lush green maritime forest set against the sparkling blue-green water of the Atlantic Ocean, he suggested the name “Emerald Isle.” Emerald Isle pays tribute to that Irish namesake each year with its St. Patrick’s Festival, one of the Crystal Coast’s biggest spring events.
Vacation attractions include a miniature golf course, movies, fishing, bike paths, natural areas with walking trails and of course swimming, sunning, sandcastle building and sensational shopping and dining.
Located in Emerald Isle, you’ll find some of the finest rental vacation homes and condos that sit along either the Bogue Sound or the Atlantic Ocean. These properties offer spectacular views and accommodations to fit every family’s budget.
